Sara Rooney, Medical Herbalist
BSc (Hons) BA (Hons)
Member of The National Institute of Medical Herbalists
I am an experienced Medical Herbalist BSc (Hons), and have also completed a BA (Hons) in Social Anthropology. The combination of these two pathways has led me to what I love to do now, combining and connecting plants and people.
I specialise in working with women in their late 30's, 40's and 50's plus to get health back on track and to feel better, more energised, using natural medicine, foods and lifestyle medicine.
I analyse the bigger picture of your health; your nutrition, your stress levels, your daily activity, your exercise and movement. My challenge is to discover the root cause of imbalances and gently but effectively help you restore your vitality with plant-based medicine and targeted nutrition.
Utilising my many years of experience supporting women with natural medicine, I can support, direct and empower you to achieve your health goals.
The aim is to support you to thrive rather than merely survive in today's world..and enjoy life to the max.
Balance your Hormones from Menarche to Menopause
Hormones are complex messengers that affect thousands of processes in our bodies... when they are out of balance, so are we!
Hormones imbalances can have a huge range of symptoms:
Fatigue and low energy
Low mood and apathy
Menstrual periods changing, become erratic/heavier
PMT symptoms and anger, mood swings
Sleep issues, hard to get to sleep, waking often or not being able to get back to sleep
Perimenopausal symptoms, hot flushes, joint aches, skin issues, weight gain
Digestive issues, IBS, recurrent candida, bloating, constipation
Symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, blood sugar regulation issues, weight gain, male pattern hair loss, body hair growth, erratic periods
Histamine intolerance, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis,
Hormonal acne, cystic spots on face and body
Symptoms of oestrogen dominance, fibroids, weight gain, severe PMT, ovarian cysts
Feeling like your hormones are all over the place?
Don't worry you are not alone! And there are so many things you can do to get back to being you.
However, sometimes it's confusing, you may well have a stack of supplements, herbs and not be sure what to take when and what's going on with your symptoms!
Sometime we need professional guided support, and advice, a plan, encouragement, functional tests, targeted supplements, hormone friendly nutrition plans and herbal medicines to get us back on track...
I can support YOU to achieve your health goals..be that clearer skin, more energy, better sleep, easier periods, more balance, increased libido, easier digestion..
I have always had a passion and special interest in hormone health and how herbs can support us through our life cycle, from birth to puberty, to the fertile years, perimenopause, menopause and the years beyond.
I have helped hundreds of women to help balance their hormones, support good health and feel better!
The initial consultation consists of an in depth review of your current symptoms, past medical health, nutrition and lifestyle and review of any recent blood or functional tests.
I analyse this information and then write you a personalised plan, with details of the herbs you will be taking, clear instructions, resources, healthy recipes and ideas to get your health back on track.
I carefully prepare your herbs individually, no two prescriptions are the same. I use a combination of tinctures, herbal powders, capsules, teas, creams and oils as necessary. These may consist of a combination of herbal medicines, medicinal foods and medicinal mushrooms.
I take an integrated approach incorporating nutrition, stress management and lifestyle advice into my support working with you. I aim to work with you to get your health back on track, step by step and ultimately believe that preventative medicine is the best medicine.
"I am so pleased to say that I am coming through my menopause and have been really fortunate to have met Sara and her approach to health and wellbeing. Not to mention her amazing herbs which have supported me through the last four to five years."
